What Brisbane 2032 means for your supply chain.

Big infrastructure, big opportunities, and a few quiet pressures on suppliers and staff you should plan around.

By ResilientQLD

Everyone's focused on the upside. New stadiums, new transport, new visitors. Fair enough. But the next six years also put quiet, sustained pressure on things most Queensland businesses depend on — trades, materials, delivery windows, staff.

Where the squeeze shows up

  • Trades: electricians, plumbers, riggers pulled onto Olympic and infrastructure sites. Your normal callout times will lengthen.
  • Materials: concrete, steel, timber and glass all trend up in price and out in lead time when big builds run.
  • Freight: road works and event closures will re-route deliveries you take for granted.
  • Staff: hospitality, cleaning and security wages rise as competition for people intensifies.

What to do about it now

You don't need to panic-buy. You need to know which two or three suppliers you cannot afford to lose, and have a conversation this year about locking in terms, alternates, or longer lead times.

The businesses that will do best over the next six years aren't the ones that spot the opportunities. They're the ones that spot the pressures early enough to price and plan for them.
